When Your Partner becomes a Cruise 'Love Rat'
Dallas Sherringham reveals another side of Cruising
The upmarket couple from the Hills District became our dinner compratriots on a 10 day Sydney to New Caledonia -Vanuatu itinerary. They were a friendly but slightly over the top couple, were Geoffrey and Shauna and they dominated the table with their light hearted banter as we left Sydney Heads heading North East. Things kind of unravelled as they quaffed down two bottles of Sav. Blanc and started bickering. We all headed off into the night and next evening at dinner Geoffrey arrived without Shauna. Apparently she was feeling ill and apologised for her non attendance. Next night Shauna arrived but no Geoffrey was to be seen. She looked very downhearted and even teary and finally confessed that she and Geoffrey had had a major argument. Geoffrey had been 'a very naughty boy' and was found in a 'compromising position' with a certain lady late on the first night at the Disco. Shauna didn't exactly describe it that way, but you get the general idea. "I'm getting off in Noumea and flying home," she told us. And so she did. Geoffrey reappeared the following evening as we left Noumea, explaining Shauna became extremely 'sea sick' and decided to fly back to Sydney. My wife and I developed an immediate dislike of our flamboyant love rat and avoided him. We felt sorry for Shauna who had spent months looking forward to the cruise. But what else could she do? |
