Making Good Friends is what Cruising is All About
By Editor Dallas Sherringham
They say if you cant make friends on a cruise ship then there's no hope for your social life.
Now, I'm not exactly the life of the party, but I still see close friends I met on the Fairstar more years ago then I intend to remember. We still meet up from time to time and have lunch at Circular Quay close to where we met for the very first time. Cruising around with 2000 fellow passengers, you are bound to make a few friends. The easiest place to meet them is undertaking activities on board. Forming a Trivia Team may seem quaint in this day and age, but it can be a fun experience and within a couple or days you will have some good acquaintances. Learning a skill like ukelele strumming or ballroom dancing is another fun way for order passengers to expand their address book. If I meet another couple or a group of friends on deck or on a shore tour, I arrange to meet for drinks at 5pm in a favorite bar or coffee shop, if that is easier. It is fun to take on a challenge like drinking beer or cocktail each day. Another good idea is to find a cosey spot on board where you can all settle down and call it your own place.
