The Upside Down Pineapple Club - Swinging at Sea on a Cruise Ship
![]() Dallas Sherringham explains the Upside Down Pineapple and Swinging Life at Sea If you see fellow passengers sporting an upside down pineapple T-shirt or jewelry on board a cruise ship it PROBABLY means they are involved in swinging.
The symbol has been associated with swingers for years and continues to be used in public areas today. Pineapple meaning—sexually—is about appreciation for those who choose to join in on the fun. A symbol that has been around for centuries, the upside down pineapple has a long and varied history. It is most commonly associated with hospitality and welcome. In fact, it is often used as a sign or decoration in hotels, restaurants, and other places where guests are welcomed. Some believe that the upside down pineapple originated from Hawaii. The state is known for its pineapple plantations, and the upside down pineapple is said to represent the locals’ friendly hospitality. Others believe that the upside down pineapple originated in Europe. It is thought to have been used as a symbol of welcome during the Renaissance period. Either way, it’s clear that the upside down pineapple has come to be known as much more than a sign of friendliness and welcome in 2022. PROCEED WITH CAUTION: Don't automatically assume that passengers sporting upside down pineapples are swingers. And even if they are swingers, it doesn't mean they are automatically 'available' or even interested in playing with you. Maybe try sharing a social drink first and see where it leads. |
